It will be the little things that you will remember,
the quiet moments, the smiles, and the laughter.
And although it may seem hard right now,
it will be the memories of these little things
that help to push away the pain
and bring the smiles back again.
Your loved one will always be as close as a memory,
and the God of all comfort will always be as
close as a prayer.
God Bless you! Laurell Hall St. Peter's Rock

My sincere condolences to the Lloyd and Smith Families. Raye Evelyn grew up in the church I grew up in, St. Peter's Rock. She was always that sweet, kind, gentle spirit. Although I have not seen her in years, I frequently thought of her and wondered where she was. I pray that God meets her loved ones at their collective points of grief and gives them comfort that only He can.

A poem for your reading:

“I Watched God"

I watched God crack dawn like two fresh, grade A hen
Watched Him raise the shade on a brand new day,
Saw Him push up a mountain with his hand and hide the
moon behind it,
Ignite the sun like a candle in a dark room.

I saw Him snatch stars from the dark skies,
Scoop the darkness up in one hand.
Saw him puff the clouds and float them across the
Sprinkle the morning dew from the water hose of time.

Watched him illuminate the mornng sky like a roman
candle on the 4th of July,
Give clocks permission to start.
Scattered the swallows from their roosts in the oaks,
I watched him shut off the switch that illuminated the
morning star.

I know he turned the faucette that started the
mississippi flowing,
The Nile winding,
Ol Faithful jumping,
And the ocean rolling.

Pushed his thumb into the ground,
hollowed out valleys,
pushed up mountains,
sprinkled dots on the landscape and they became trees.

Put birds in the air,
Fish in the water,
Animals to walk the ground,
and life within.

Started the earth to spinning,
Sent it on its journey around the sun,
Wrung water out of the clouds and made it rain,
Put on a light show with lightning.

In the coolness of the evening shade,
Fashioned a lump of clay to look like you,
Gave it grace, beauty, warmth, caring and love,
Then from nothing he made me.

Ohh I tell you I watched God,
In the Glory of all that He is.
Make everything His mind beheld,
And even made him a woman.

My fondest memories of Raye Evelyn.... I had the pleasure of spending a few weeks in the summer with Aunt Mary Alice and Uncle Renice. (Highlight of my summers). Aunt Mary Alice was a true gem, Raye would receive Company, (Walter) she was so graceful and sweet. Al and I would sneak peek in to see her and Walter courting. We never saw anything, inappropriate. She was so classy, I wanted to be just like her.....Raye you inspired me with your grace and class.....love you, cousin Darlene Swopes-Tripplett
