Music by The Piano Brothers

James Edward Jones, was born March 15, 1942 to the late Horace T. Jones and Mary Lee Siler-Young in Lonoke County. James graduated from George Washington Carver High School, Lonoke, Arkansas, May 1962. Shortly after graduation he enrolled in Shorter College, North Little Rock, Arkansas.

James worked for Arkansas Workers Compensation Commission as a Legal Administrative Assistant for thirty years. Work did not contain James, he spent years playing softball with the Kerr All Stars and as a basketball referee around the state of Arkansas.

James protected his heart by putting up a wall of defense. Everyone who genuinely knew James acknowledged him as being gentle, kind and compassionate.

Jones and step-father David Young Sr., five brothers, David Young Jr., Adolph "Sonny" Young, Jessie Jones, Theodis Holmes and Jackie McPeace, two sisters, Lucille Jones and Joyce Morgan.

James leaves to cherish his memories three brothers, Larry (Clara) Young, North Little Rock, Arkansas; Mike (Mildred) Jones, Lonoke, Arkansas and Derrick (Bobbie) Harvey, Blackjack, Missouri; eight sisters, Evelyn (Charles) Armstrong, Betty (Alvin) Williams both of Little Rock, Arkansas; Wilma Young, Sherwood, Arkansas; Carol (Dewayne) Morgan, North Little Rock, Arkansas; Loretta (Spencer) Pennick, Stanford, Virginia; Barbara Kelleybrew, Scott, Arkansas; Olibra (Mike) Bailey, Los Angeles, California and LaVonne Holmes, Jacksonville, Arkansas, a host of other relatives and friends.

Our memories are seeing a warm smile, soft words and loving demeanor. He will be missed but will live on in all the minds of those who had the privilege of knowing him. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

With loving memories,

I’m thinking of my family at this time and remembering the strong impact James has had on my life. How I treasure my young face being smothered with my cousin’s countless kisses; I smile remembering how my hair and clothes had to pass his scrutiny before I was allow to leave the house. His matter-of-fact approach, whether instructing or encouraging me was not to be questioned. James’ love and attention were a force of motivation in my life. His fatherly influence is unquestionable. My love for him is forever.

I worked for 20 years with James. We were buddies. Ate lunch together, smoke breaks together, gossiped together, and got our work done. James was a sweet, caring guy but tried to be tough but was a good fried. I know he will be missed. I did call him a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed visiting with him.
