BAHIYYAH WARD DAWAN was born in Little Rock, Arkansas to Samuel Ward and Daaiyah Newborn. She leaves behind five children; Baaqir Salaam, Bayyinah Sherrill-Jones, Baria Smith, Saleemah Smith, Tahirah Gipson (step-daughter), and is preceded in death by one child, Maryam Salaam. Bahiyyah worshipped at the Islamic Center for Human Excellence and was a strong believer in GOD having completed her fifth pillar of Al-Islam, Hajj in 2008. Bahiyyah was an undergraduate from Little Rock Central High and the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences School of Nursing. She served as Assistant Manager at Talecris Plasma Center, School Nurse at Scholarmade Achievement and as a Charge Nurse at Southern Trace Rehabilitation. She was a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., and she was one of the founding members of the UALR chapter. Bahiyyah worked tirelessly in her community and stopped at nothing to help friends, family, or anyone in need. She will be missed greatly and remembered much.  Family and friends Memorial hours will be Tuesday, January 29, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home. Janazah (Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 30, 12:30 p.m. at Islamic Center for Human Excellence, 1717 Wright Avenue, Little Rock, Arkansas.
