Barbara Blanton Obituary

Barbara Ann Wayne Blanton, born on May 12, 1957, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to the late Leon Wayne and Estoria Pettus, received her wings December 9, 2024.

Barbara was a proud Little Rock Central High School Tiger, where she graduated in 1975. She then pursued a degree at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR). Barbara was a devout member at Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church in Scott, Arkansas, where she served faithfully as the church secretary. Her unwavering commitment to her faith and her church family was a cornerstone of her life, inspiring those around her with her warmth, humility, and generosity. Barbara was full of life and was a pure light and joy to be around. She was always willing to help others and visit the sick.

Barbara loved to dance, cook, and eat. She could always be found wiggling her feet as she enjoyed her meal. She was a classy, down-to-earth, genuine soul and careful listener. Barbara loved to serve, and her last place of employment was Nayles Medical Center where she worked as an office clerk. She also worked for years at Pathfinder, Navigator, and Phillips Lighting.

Barbara was the oldest sister of five siblings. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Leon Wayne and Estoria Pettus and two brothers, Marcus Pettus and Allen Wayne. Barbara is survived by her husband of 45 years, A.D. Blanton; three children Brent, Brittany, and Braylin Blanton; three siblings, Beverly (Larry) Taylor, Constance (Helen) Wayne, and Tonya (Gerald) Wayne, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered as a woman of peace, strength, love and grace.
