Deacon Nathaniel Wash Hunter was born June 17, 1954, to the late Alex and Equilla Hunter in England, AR. He departed this life on Sunday, May 17, 2026. He was preceded in death by four brothers, James Hunter, Sr., Bobby Hunter, Sr., Freddie Hunter, and Charles Hunter, Sr., and one sister, Aileen Bryant.
Deacon Nathaniel Wash Hunter loved the Lord and confessed his faith at an early age. He was ordained as Deacon at the Springfield Missionary Baptist Church in Seaton, AR, where he served for many years. He was a faithful Deacon at the Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church (Little Rock, AR) and The Historic St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church (Lonoke, AR). He served as an ordained Deacon for 47 years.
He was a faithful worker in the Lonoke Community, helping others. He started the NAACP for the Youth of Lonoke, AR. He loved recruiting young men to join the Masonic League. He helped organize the Lonoke Community Choir.
He worked for the Little Rock Furniture Factory for many years and was employed for 26 years with Rock City Furniture. He retired from Dassault Falcon Jet in 2017, where he was employed for 17 years.
He had a passion for gardening. He was funny and straightforward with words but gentle and caring in nature. He loved all his children and grandchildren alike.
Survivors
He leaves to cherish his memory a dedicated, loving wife, Melody Hunter; sons, Marcus Hunter of Lonoke, AR, Alex Hunter of Bentonville, AR, Steven (Beverly) Davis of Bowling Green, KY, and Andre Kirk of Moberly, MO; daughter, Melody Lanette Hunter of Lonoke, AR; fourteen grandchildren, Markea Hunter, Marcus Hunter , Jr., Kemarcus Jones, Marjayvius Hunter, Kaylin Hunter, Shanyia Hunter, Bralon Hunter, Adell Abston, Damarco Hunter, Tasharra Hunter, Avery Hunter, Drake Wise, Lamondre' Scott, and Keon McDuffie; sisters, Lillie Laster of Lonoke, AR, and Dorothy Couch of Carlisle, AR; brothers, Ocie (Earline) Hunter, Sr. of Jacksonville, AR, Perry Hunter of Jacksonville, AR, and Robert Hunter of Lonoke, AR; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and family.
