Obituary

Dorothy Willie Mae Carroll Dodson, was born December 7, 1931 to the late Ezell Carroll and Rener Elnora Bea Carroll in Pettus, Arkansas. Dorothy accepted Christ at an early age at St. John Baptist Church, Pettus, Arkansas under the leadership of Rev. Charles Cole where she remained faithful until her health began to fail.

She was united in holy matrimony, to the late Earl (Jack) Dodson, on April 9, 1951. To this union ten children were born. Dorothy's family and the community were not strangers to her big heart. She led a life that would impact all that she met as she opened her home to anyone in need, never turning away a stranger. She played a vital role in raising her grands, great-grands, and great-great grandchildren as well as her nieces and nephews. Her impact and love were enough to jumpstart a myriad of dreams, futures, and possibilities for everyone who crossed her path.

Dorothy transitioned from this life on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at home surrounded by family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Earl (Jack) Dodson, her parents Ezell and Rener Elnora Bea-Carroll, one sister Earnestine Carroll, and two brothers, George and Marion Carroll.

Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory six sons, Larry (Betty) Dodson, Derrick Dodson, Terry (Diann) Dodson, all of Newport, Arkansas; Marcus Dodson, Carlisle, Arkansas; Dexter Dodson and Glynn Dodson both of Lonoke, Arkansas; five daughters, Cheryl (Sanford) Buchanan, Rita (Johnny) Bunch, Tracy (James) Whitehead all of Lonoke, Arkansas; Alma Dodson, Cabot, Arkansas; and Mamie Hegger, Arlington, Texas; six sisters, Della Burton, Jewelene Swift, Allie Hightower, Maxine Williams, Delories Allison and Mildred (Michael) Jones, thirty grandchildren, sixty-nine great-grandchildren, and thirty-five great-great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Who could find a more virtuous woman than that of Dorothy Dodson, For her price is far above rubies?
