Gertha Lee Donahue Dodson was born on December 6, 1936, in Pettus, Arkansas, to the late Katie Bledsoe Ingram and Johnson Donahue, Sr. Known affectionately as "Gert", she was the oldest child and loved all of her brothers and sisters.
Gertha professed her life in Christ at an early age under the leadership of Rev. Terry at Zion Chapel Baptist Church, Pettus, Arkansas, where she remained a faithful member into her early adult years. She attended Carver High School in Lonoke, Arkansas, in the early 1950s. She married Julius Lee Dodson on November 20, 1953, and to this union, five children were born.
She transitioned from this life on Thursday, April 2, 2020. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Julius Lee Dodson; her eldest child and only son, Jerry O'Dell Dodson; a son-in-law, Billy Richard; a granddaughter, Roshundalyn Jenae Scribner; her father, Johnson Donahue, Sr; her mother, Katie Bledsoe Ingram; her maternal grandparents, Arthur Bledsoe and Henrietta Jackson Bledsoe Jarmon; her paternal grandparents, Morris Donahue and Lucinda Johnson Donahue; her brother, Johnson Donahue, Jr.; and her sister, Onita Donahue Allen.
Gertha leaves to cherish her memories four daughters, Gwendolyn Dodson of Conway, Arkansas; Lola Dodson of Lonoke, Arkansas; and Cordellia Clark (Michael) and Sheila Tucker (Christopher) of Clarksville, Tennessee; five grandsons; eight granddaughters; nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren.
She also leaves eleven brothers, Justus Donahue (Velma) of Lonoke, Arkansas; Theopalis Donahue of Benton, Arkansas; William Donahue (Wilhelmina) of Grand Prairie, Texas; Louis Trimble, Earnest Ingram, Jr. (Darlene) and Ulysses Ingram (Rita) of England, Arkansas; Harold Dean Donahue (Rosalyn) and Larry Stewart (Serita) of Scott, Arkansas; Ron Donahue (Valerie) of Kennedale, Texas; Don Donahue, Sr., of Sherwood, Arkansas; and Gary Stewart of North Little Rock, Arkansas; ten sisters, Lorene Bradley (James) of Inglewood, California; Mildred Brown (Levorn) of Conway, Arkansas; Evelyn Epps of Pasadena, California; Joyce Ware (Johnny) and Annette Smith (Clifton) of North Little Rock, Arkansas; Onetha Webb and Sandra Robinson of England, Arkansas; Betty Randolph and Gracie Brooks (Donald) of Little Rock, Arkansas; and Linda Moss (Columbus) of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; and a host of wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, special aunts, Mable Donahue and Juanita Dodson of Chicago, Illinois; special sister-in-law, Earnestine
