Herbert Dale Martin was born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was a very intelligent man and had an outstanding vocabulary. Herbert was an extremely great handy man. If you needed something fixed all you had to do was ask him. If he had no idea how to do it; he would figure it out.
He was a forklift mechanic and worked for numerous companies. Later he had his own forklift equipment service. Herbert hired other mechanics to help fix forklifts.
He enjoyed sports and encouraged his three children to play. He was the girls' softball coach for a while, and he pushed his daughter Jessica to be the best. He would get outside in the summer heat to practice ball with his children Jessica, Jeremy and Trey. Herbert built a batting cage in the backyard so they would have somewhere to hit baseballs and softballs.
He enjoyed going to his children's school and was enthused with the competitive games. Herbert was a father who only wanted to see his children succeed in life.
Besides the sport aspect, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. At one time he had two boats. He would always take his children fishing. They always had a great time with their dad. Herbert taught his children so many things. He was a very caring and well-mannered man. If he saw you struggle, he would help in a heartbeat. Because that's the type of man he was.
Our dad is gone but he will never be forgotten.
