Hershel Carroll Sr., age 85, of NLR, AR, departed this life on March 23, 2025. Born in Lonoke, Arkansas to Aretha Bland Carroll and Lezell Carroll on October 11, 1939. Affectionately known as Hut. Hershel accepted Christ and maintained his Christian faith until his passing. He kept in good spirits throughout his illness. Hershel worked for Winburn Tile for over 30 years. Although his family knew him as Hut, the neighborhood kids knew him as Mr. Carroll. He ran a candy store for years for the neighborhood kids. He loved children, he helped his wife Jean for many years with childcare for relatives, the community and within the city. He looked forward to his visits with his great grandkids. Before he became ill, every year he would grow a garden, mainly for his family.
Hershel is preceded in death by his wife Wilma (Jean) Carroll, his parents, Aretha Carroll and Lezell Carroll, Brothers, Gene Edward (Sam) Carroll and Lezell Carroll, Jr., Sisters, Nicey Jenkins, Willie Lee Jones, Marilyn Carroll, and Mary Jean Carroll. Hershel leaves to cherish his memories to children: Allie Mae Carroll of Lonoke, Arkansas, Valarie (Albert) Christopher Jr., Charles Carroll, Antonette (Greg) Lairy Sr., all of Sherwood, Arkansas, Hershel Carroll Jr., and Angela Carroll both of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Sisters, Eunice Qualls, Alice (Herman) Williams, Ann Burnett, Aretha Carroll Taylor, and Barbara (Charles) Jackson; four grandchildren Brittany Alexander, Charles Carroll Jr., Greg Lairy Jr., and Sydney Carroll; five great-grandchildren Zaiden Alexander, Ayden Thompson, Aycen Thompson, Maverick Sanders and Sage Sanders, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
