James Bryant Sr. Obituary

James A. Bryant Sr. was born to Herbert Bryant Sr. and Lettie Bryant on January 25, 1949, of Lonoke, Arkansas. He transitioned on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.

James accepted Christ at an early age and began preaching at the age of 18 years old. He became the Pastor of Richwood Church of God in Christ where he ministered for 58 years before his health declined. He was a dedicated preacher, guitarist, singer, and an amazing handy man. He worked tirelessly each day as a great leader.

James was raised in a rural area of Lonoke known as Richwood, Arkansas. He worked on the farm as a young child, and he later had his own farm where he raised soybeans and rice. James also became a great landlord for families in the City of Lonoke.

James graduated from George Washington Carver High School in 1968 and continued his education at Pulaski Vocational Technical School where he earned his Technical Certificate in Mechanics. James worked at Remington Arms for 45 years as a mechanic, where he later retired.

James was preceded in death by his parents: Lettie and Herbert Bryant, Sr., wife of 47 years Lady Aileen Bryant and daughter-in-law Aniko Bryant of Lonoke, AR, brothers Earnest Bryant of Little Rock, AR, Eddie Wayne Bryant of Lonoke, AR, stepmother, Aliese Bryant of Pine Bluff, AR and sisters Pearlie Mae Harris of Carson, CA, Mary Whitehead and Renee Duncan of Jacksonville, AR.

James leaves many to cherish his memory including wife of 7 years, Irenna Fay Bryant of Lonoke, AR, sons, Kevin Bryant (Regina), James Bryant Jr. (Shana), grandchildren: Demetris Bryant, Maurico Bryant, Jamie Bryant, James Bryant III, Maygan Bryant, Kevin Bryant Jr., Jaci Bryant, Jackson Bryant, Alyssa Bryant, Ava Bryant, and great grandchildren: Devin Bryant, and Jaidynn Bryant, bonus children: Perry Dewayne Ward and Regina Langford (Tony) of Little Rock, and Genita Dejean of Houston, TX, bonus grandchildren: Christian Langford, Tony Langford Jr., Micah Langford, and Perryn Ward.

Surviving brothers and sisters: Dock Donaly of Dixmoor, IL, Thoriace Bryant (Barbara) of Belen, NM, Herbert Bryant Jr. (LaWanda) of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Henry Bryant (Flora) of Compton, CA, Shirley Taylor (Johnny) of Perris, CA, L.B. Bryant (Mary) of England, AR, Jewel Bennett of Jacksonville, AR, Dollie Edmondson of North Little Rock, AR, Wilma Woods (Tommy) of North Little Rock, AR, Raymond Bryant (Carolyn) of Lonoke, AR, and Robert Bryant (Loria) of England, AR. He also leaves behind to cherish his memories a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends to mourn his loss.
