John Allen Rodgers was born, November 1, 1953, to the late Clark and Virginia Rodgers in Marvell, Arkansas. John attended Marvell Elementary and MM Tate High School in Marvell, Arkansas. After graduation he enrolled at AM&N College in Pine Bluff which is now UAPB, University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, on a baseball scholarship. John later married Odessa Rodgers and moved to Chicago, Illinois where he became an entrepreneur; owner of a janitorial service. John was a child of God receiving Jesus as his Lord and Savior at an early age. His strongest desire was to see his family prosper and come together.
John moved several times (Chicago/Atlanta) before returning to Little Rock, Arkansas. He reconnected with Oretha Wilson and they later became engaged. Being the owner of a janitorial service John knew the ends and outs of the custodial business and began a career with Atkins. There he remained for years.
John transitioned from this life on Monday, June 6, 2020. He was the father of one son, Remond Brasfield, Kansas City, Missouri and three daughters, Tosha Honeycutt, Helena, Arkansas; Monique Rodgers, Chicago, Illinois and Semiko Rodgers who preceded him in death, Also, preceded in death by his mother and father, Clark and Virginia Rodgers, two brothers Eddie C. Rodgers and Theodis Rodgers and a sister Jewel Davis.
John leaves to cherish his memories one son, Remond Brasfield and two daughters,Tosha Honeycutt and Monique Rodgers, five sisters, Freddie Mae (Henry-deceased) Simmons, Forest, Maryland; Ruby (Joe-deceased) Dumas and Mary Rodgers both of Little Rock, Arkansas; Alzaton (Delbert) Knight, Dallas, Texas and Priscilla Gibson, Carrollton, Texas; a brother, Clark (Wanda) Rodgers, Jr. and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
