Mattie Bell Walker (Williams), born on March 22, 1954, in Stuttgart, AR, peacefully passed away on August 20, 2024. A lifelong devout Christian, Mattie embodied love, kindness, and devotion throughout her life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose generosity and caring spirit touched everyone she met.
Mattie graduated from Lonoke High School with the Class of 1972 and went on to serve as a retail associate for the Department of Veteran's Affairs until her retirement in 2006. A woman of many talents, she served as the treasurer for her church for much of her life, where her commitment to her faith and community was unwavering. Blessed with a beautiful soprano voice, Mattie sang with her siblings in the Williams Family group during her youth, leaving lasting memories of her joyful spirit.
Although she never traveled by plane, Mattie was always present for life's celebrations and major events, demonstrating her deep dedication to her family. She was a devoted mother, ensuring her children had everything they needed and wanted. Her love for fishing, seafood, K-dramas, and Kung Fu brought her simple joy, and her passion for caring for her family members, even from a young age, was a testament to her nurturing nature. Mattie was loved by all who knew her, and her legacy of love, faith, and generosity will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
Mattie was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Sylvester Sr. and Pearlie Williams, and her cherished daughter, Shelanna D. Martin (Goodrum).
She leaves behind a family who adored her: her devoted husband of 43 years, Norman W. Walker Sr.; her daughters Amanda Singleton and Natalya Swanigan (Courtney); her stepsons Norman Walker, II (Nicole) and Shawn Williams (Ebony); her sisters Carolyn Williams, Linder Callaway (Royce), Linder Jarrett (Tracey), and Kim Smith; her brothers Sylvester Williams (Cora), Donnie Williams (Lillian), Norvell Williams (Felicia), Herman Williams (Edith), and Norris Williams, Sr. (Fredericka). Mattie also leaves behind 19 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
