Sergeant Major Val R. Rideout (USMC, Retired), 78, of North Little Rock transitioned to his eternal rest on March 18, 2015.
Sergeant Major Rideout was a career Marine with thirty years of valiant and highly decorated service. He was a graduate of Scipio A. Jones High School and Columbia College. Sergeant Major Rideout was a great orator and motivational speaker who lived his life in an exemplary manner as a soldier and as a Christian.
He was preceded in death by his wife of forty two years, Mary Ellen (Dokes) Rideout; his parents, Reverend Jessie L. and Cleo Patra Rideout; and two brothers Jessie Rideout and Harold Rideout.
He leaves to cherish his legacy daughters, Andrea Rideout and Shauna (Rodney) Bostic; grandson, Zachary Bostic all of North Little Rock and brother, Andrew (Betty) Rideout of Little Rock. He will be remembered in love and admiration by many extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 27, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 811 Scipio A. Jones Drive, North Little Rock, Arkansas. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 before the service. Interment will follow with military honors at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 West Maryland Avenue, NLR.
